This policy sets out what you can and can't do when using Mentor, whether through the anonymous Practice feature or a school account. It applies to everyone who uses the Service and is incorporated into our Terms of Service.
1. General rules
You must not, and must not attempt to:
- use the Service for any unlawful purpose, or in a way that breaches any applicable law;
- impersonate another person, or misrepresent your affiliation with a school, teacher, or student;
- access or attempt to access another person’s account, or share your own sign-in access with someone it wasn’t provisioned for;
- probe, scan, or test the security of the Service, or attempt to bypass a rate limit, access control, or other technical restriction;
- scrape, systematically extract, or bulk-download question content, curriculum data, or other material from the Service;
- upload or transmit any virus, malware, or other harmful code;
- use the Service to harass, bully, threaten, or intimidate another person, or to post or transmit content that is defamatory, obscene, or unlawfully discriminatory; or
- interfere with, or place an unreasonable load on, the infrastructure that runs the Service.
2. Using the AI Mentor
The AI Mentor is built to help you understand the current question — see our AI Use & Limitations statement for how it works. When using it, you must not:
- try to make it ignore its instructions, reveal its system prompt, or otherwise “jailbreak” it (sometimes called prompt injection);
- use it as a general-purpose chatbot for topics unrelated to the current question — the Service is built to keep it on-topic, and deliberately attempting to defeat that is not permitted;
- submit content that is sexual, violent, hateful, or otherwise inappropriate for a school study tool, including where intended as a test or a joke;
- submit another person’s personal information into the chat; or
- use it to generate content for the purpose of academic dishonesty in another context.
If your message is automatically detected as a possible safeguarding disclosure (for example, language that may indicate self-harm or abuse), it is handled as described in our Child Safety / Online Safety policy — including an alert to a real person — rather than treated as a policy breach.
3. Consequences of breaching this policy
Breaching this policy may result in a warning, suspension, or termination of your access to the Service (see clause 13 of our Terms of Service). Where the breach involves a school account, we may also notify the relevant school administrator or teacher. Where we reasonably believe a breach involves a genuine risk to someone’s safety or involves unlawful conduct, we may report it to the school, the police, or another relevant authority.
4. Reporting a concern
If you see content or behaviour on Mentor that concerns you, tell your teacher or school administrator, or contact us directly at support@learnwithmentor.com.au. If a student is in immediate danger, contact emergency services on 000 first.
