Plate Tectonics

Use plate movement and boundary types to explain earthquakes, volcanoes, ridges and mountain building.

Let's start

Earth's surface is mobile

Earth's rigid outer layer, the lithosphere, is broken into large tectonic plates. These plates move slowly over the more flexible mantle beneath them, and that slow movement can reshape the surface over millions of years.
