Cellular Respiration

Learn how cells release usable energy from glucose, and how that contrasts with photosynthesis.

Let's start

Food energy has to be released

Glucose stores chemical energy, but a cell cannot use that energy just by having glucose nearby. Cellular respiration is the chemical process that releases usable energy from glucose so cells can power movement, growth, repair and active transport.
