Does an Ordered Pair Satisfy a Linear Equation?

Test whether an ordered pair works in a linear equation by substituting x, calculating the expected y-value, and comparing it with the given y-value.

Let's start

What are we learning?

An ordered pair such as (4, -22) gives a possible x-value and y-value for an equation. To test it, you do not guess from the graph or the shape of the equation: you substitute x and see whether the y-value comes out correctly.
